Knoch Sports News from Last Week

Thursday Knoch Varsity Girls' Soccer defeated Indiana, 3-2 for their first win of the season. Goal were scored by Macrina Robb, Brooke Galcik, and Megan Vasas.
 
Knoch Volleyball team picked up their first win of the season last night with a 3-1 win over Burrell.  
 
Congratulations to Laura Greb on winning the section singles championship at Cranberry Twp Park. Laura defeated younger sister Emily in two sets. Both players did a great job representing the Knights. 
 
The Knoch Golf team lost to Butler at Butler Country Club 211-252 dropping their record to 2-7 overall. Cory Voltz led the Knight golfers by shooting a 42 on the par 35 course.

Friday: 
*The Knoch Tennis team braved the chilly weather yesterday and came home with a WIN over Butler – another AAA team.  This was a non-section match and puts the team record at 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the section.   

KNOCH won 47 games to Butler 25

*Knoch Football lost to Greensburg-Salem 13-12.

 

Saturday: 

*The Knoch Cross Country team enjoyed a cool crisp morning race at the Red, White, Blue Invite. All of the Knoch runners had personal best season times on the 3.1 course at scenic White Oak Park. Leading the boys to a fourth place team finish out of (20 teams) was Mike Formica with an impressive time of 16:24 finishing fifth overall and earning race honors. Also, medaling by finishing 13th overall was Daniel Deal with a time of 17:16. Rounding out the Varsity Knights - Ethan Wymer (18:34), Austen Haugh (18:45), Evan Chess (18:52) and Gavin Haugh (20:34).

Leading the Lady Knights to a fourth team finish out of (19 teams) was Elyse Chess earning race honors for her effort by coming in 8th place overall with a time of 20:18. Also, earning medals for their places was Emma Haugh 17th place with a time of 21:22 and Yumiko Kuo finishing in 21st place with a time of 21:34. Rounding out the Lady Knights times - Jocelyn Holko - 22:50, Grace Bogacz - 23:41 and Jaydon Crawford - 23:58.

The Boys JV team took home the 3rd place finish out of (14 teams). Finishing in the top 10 - Sheldon Deal - (3rd place time 19:08), Elijah Ruetiger - (8th place time 19:51) and Michael Stull - (9th place time 19:52). Rounding out the Knights finishers - Andrew Costel (20:48) and Jeremy Dawson (22:32). 


The Knights are back in action at home on Tuesday, September 22 with section races vs. Burrell, Ellis and Holy Redeemer. Good luck. 

 

*KHS Varsity Boys Soccer team dropped a tough game Saturday against Indiana, 2-0. In the JV game, the Knights and Indians battled to a 1-1 tie. 

 

*KHS JV Football defeated Greensburg Salem Saturday, 36-8.
