Course Description

Accounting is a year-long course that will help you learn the basics of double-entry techniques to
maintain financial records. You will learn how to prepare formal financial records for a sole
proprietorship in a service and merchandising business. In addition you will learn how to
account for cash and credit transactions. Your work will include analyzing, journalizing, and
posting accounting transactions. You will learn how to prepare a post-closing trial balance and
commonly used financial statements for a fiscal period. The work of this class will be theory,
pen and pencil work, but you will have the opportunity to record transactions and prepare
financial statements using the QuickBooks accounting software. Basic math skills are necessary
and will be reviewed throughout the year. Business ethics and international accounting will also
be discussed.
